Wedding Date
I have only just realised, thanks to Mark, that we haven't posted the wedding date on here yet. It should be the 1st of July 2006 unless we can't find a reception venue for that date. So save the date everyone.

Wedding Dress
I have bought a wedding dress!
A few weeks ago, I was browsing the internet and I came across an advert for a 'wedding warehouse sale' on the confetti.co.uk web page. I booked a couple of tickets for it because I had nothing else planned for that day (except Alisons birthday BBQ) but I wasn't really sure whether I want to go or not. The sale was just south of Nottingham, which is long way to go, and I had visions of it being like that episode of friends where Rachel and Phoebe are given whistles and have to fight for the dress Monica wants.
Anyway last friday, the day before the sale, I finally decided that I was going to go. I enlisted the help of my lovely housemate Ishbel and her shiny get away car and KJ to stop me buying anything too stupid. We piled in the car and set off at about 12.30. It took 2 hours to get to Grantham thanks to all the lovely roadworks on the A1 but as soon as we arrived we were offered sweets and tea or coffee so that made up for it. As we pulled into the factory i was delighted to find that it was a Berkatex factory sale which is where I had previously seen a dress which I have been thinking about buying for the last four weeks. As I qued to get measured I sent KJ and Ishbel off to look for the dress and almost as soon as we started looking we found it. Anyway I tried it on and it doesn't look quite the same as the one in the shop but I think that is because I was standing in a factory and the lighting wasn't very good. We checked the dress for marks and there is nothing on it so I bought it! I am sure Andrew's mum and Dad will be very proud of my bargain hunting skills as I have saved £400 on the full retail price and probably another £200 on fitting costs.
It is beautiful but noone is allowed to see it till the wedding now. Sorry.

Weekend
Myself and Andrew spent a very exciting weekend blitzing the internet to find suitable reception venues and updating the web page. I think we probably only emailed/wrote to about twenty hotels but it felt like an awful lot more. On a more promising note we have managed to get in contact with St Tims who sounded quite enthusiastic about hosting our wedding reception. I am not going to get too excited about it yet because we have been disapointed by the university so many times but it will be such a relief to have a venue booked.
As you can see we have made a few additions to the wedding list and have finally put the guest list up. There will probably be a few changes to the guest list over the next few weeks (as I remember peoples surnames) but if you are reading this blog then you will be definatly be staying on the list (unless you really, really upset us :-)) so don't worry. The list will be finalised over the next couple of weeks so that we can send out some 'save the date' cards.

Engagement party
We are going to have an engagement party on saturday the 2nd of July. Everyone who is on the wedding list (soon to be released) is welcome to come and it will be a nice opportunity for people to get to know each other before the wedding. Please do not feel in any way pressured to buy us an engagement gift. We are having the party because we like parties not because we want a load of presents.
Venue: to be arranged.

Bridesmaids
Dave kindly pointed out last night that I haven't posted about who my bridesmaids are. Although I would love to have a lot more bridesmaids than would be sensible I have decided to just have three; my two cousins Lucy and Jenny and Andrews sister Kathryn.
